"So bad it was funny."

My Wife and I decided to stay here because it was close to the softball fields that we were going to play at in a national tournament. We were checked in by a very nice Philipina women named Evelyn, she was super helpful and gave us a good feeling about our upcoming stay but it soon went downhill from there. My wife and I were presented with "Funbooks" that we were told to exchange at another desk in the casino for free money to gamble with, free prime rib, free drink. you vegas junkies know what I'm talking about. When we got to the desk a lady named "Myrna" looked at the Funbooks and decided we had forged them or something and started yelling to her other workmates seated up and down the desk waving the funbooks around and saying that either we (my wife and I) or the front desk screwed up the books. She then yelled for her manager who was in another office to come out and look at these books and go talk to the front desk ladies. All this is happening in front of a crowd of customers both at the desk with us and in line behind us which made us feel very uncomfortable. She demanded to see my drivers license which I gave her and I told her if there was a problem to just forget it but she made a big scene and said this would all be cleared up and to stand at the desk. I took my license away from her and grabbed my wife's hand and said "I am done with you". She was still yelling at us as we walked away totally embarrassed. We stayed in one of the "cabana rooms" across the street in a separate building (RM 6109) we were very tired after a 10 hour drive to get there and we went to bed early. We were awakened in the early hours of the morning to several waterfalls coming from our ceiling! Water every where! the carpets were soaked, water was coming out of the electrical ceiling can lights, the bathroom fan, even the sconce light on the wall by the front door! My wife jumped up and immediately tried to save our belongings by getting them back in the suitcases, bags etc..and I quickly got dressed and ran to the front desk (again, across the street in another building) and I reported the incident to the lady in a mild panic like "umm you really really need to send someone to my room and look at this, there is water every where coming out of the ceiling lights!" She didnt' bat an eye and just said "What did you do? leave the water on to long?" What did I do? Lady! didn't you hear me? it is coming out of the ceiling lights! Unless this hotel was built by the three stooges plumbing company I am pretty sure that is not supposed to happen! So she was like "Fine, I will send maintenance there to make a decision on whether you can still stay in the room, otherwise I don't have any others for you" The Maintenance guys showed up after a bit and you could see the panic in their eyes and they jumped in the elevator and scurried up to the next floor to apparently take care of what must have been a catastrophic leak in the room above us (I wouldn't know since they never share that info with us.) My wife and I put all of our belongings in our car and went back to the front desk to find out the room situation as I had to head for the ball fields in a few hours. We were told "Sorry we got nothing for you come back at 3pm and we will see what we can do" NOT "sorry for the inconvenience" NOT "sorry for potentially electrocuting you in your sleep" Just ummm yea come back later dude and maybe we will have something. So no showers, no breakfast, no sleep went to play ball. Came back at four pm was given the room right across the hall from the swimming pool that used to be our other room and guess what? the heater was in the perpetually "ON" position and stuck at 80 degrees which was slightly cooler than the 90 degrees outside so that was a plus. We laid there in our skivvies laughing at how this only happens to us. On the way out of the casino my wife decided to put one dollar in a slot machine just to say she gambled and the slot machine immediately lit up with an error and swallowed her dollar. LOL! just perfect! The really cool thing was that one of the desk ladies felt bad for us and gave my wife a kids snack size back of Lays potato chips and a bottle of water FREE! not kidding you folks. So if you are eager to be treated like the minority of the minorities, flirt with death while sleeping, pull off the largest "Funbook" caper in the history of Las Vegas then El Cortez is your kind of place! Now I understand what the $20 per day amenity charge was for. So much to do!
